Upflow Regeneration

This unique (upflow) counter current regeneration creates greater cost savings and adds an incredibly longer life to your system. Unlike (downflow) systems that clean from the top down, this upflow softener first sweeps the bottom of the tank. Next it flows up through our own layered and blended mineral bed (exclusive) allowing the entire resin bed to be lifted and thoroughly cleaned. Waste materials and contaminants are lifted and discharged out of the drain. This is the system to use on tough water- especially with iron. If you want it to last, make it an upflow regenerator.

Self-Cleaning Distributors

Unlike most other distributors that will commonly become clogged, this one breaths open and shut to constantly clean itself.

Salt Grid

The salt is not just dropped into a can of water like other systems - it is only allowed to touch a an inch of water. The Brine remains below the grid. A metering valve produces a perfect amount of fully saturated brine each cycle. It virtually eliminates salt bridging with no possibility of malfunction due to salt insolubles and other foreign materials - not only economical but efficient.

Shut-Off Control Safety Valve

It prevents brine tank overflow - a must if the unit is placed in a finished utility area.

Standard On All Models

Internal bypass automatically delivers water during regeneration.

Capable of Salt-Free Operation Permanent Holiday Settings

Saves money when you are not at home.

Super Capacitor Back Up Power

No batteries! It will retain data during power outages and you never have to change expensive batteries.
TIP: Buy a two piece softener if possible. You'll get more for you money and they are much easier to maintain than a one piece softener.

Computer Controls

(On-Demand) And Day-Timer Controls (Upgredable) * No fuss no mess- This self-cleaning water conditioner constantly monitors and adjusts to your water usage. Your water test and system capacity are programmed into memory. It adjusts to changes in your water usage keeping your water soft. * The new Seahorse is designed with layered programming. This allows the manufacturer to have more control and the end user less responsibility.

Completely User Friendly

You use only 3 touch pad buttons.
* Over 5,000 grains of hardness removed per pound of salt. That means savings in excess of 50% of salt used for regeneration.
* Under the right operating conditions this control uses as little as 13 gallons of water to regenerate.
* All controls used for Seahorse Water Conditioners meet industry standards for household and commercial water softeners and the Standard for Demand Initiated Regeneration.

Many of today’s plastic water softeners (especially hardware or chain store units) last only a few years. You end up throwing them away and buying one after another. Now you can solve your water problems once and for all with a “SEAHORSE” - the outstanding, home and commercial grade, lifetime water system.

Seahorse Water Conditioning Systems are known for performance and durability. They remove hardness, sediment, iron, and harmful contaminants. Seahorse is built to last. No other water conditioner in this class can match.
Don’t buy less than the best.

All Softeners Are Not Equal

All softeners are either upflow (backwashing or cleaning the bottom first and then pushing up) or downflow (backwashing or pushing from the top to clean downward). They have to be one or the other, there is no inbetween. The upflow operation is a distinct advantage when hard water and iron counts are high. Sediments are not left behind to grate on the resins. Many softners flow upward during the brine cycle but not during the important cleaning or backwashing cylcle. Some salesmen pass downflows off as upflow softeners. They are not. True upflow is when it sweeps, backwashes and cleans from the bottom up like the Seahorse.

Note: Some people look at a two piece softener and think "old school". Mistake! The shinny, blinking, spaceship looking one-piece units give you less softener, less length of filtering bed and must be disassembled periodically to clean and maintain. To build a one-piece unit you simply shrink the softener (the part that does all the work) until it fits inside the salt tank. Nice looking but you give up softener size and add maintenance. Now the day comes when (not if but when) you must disassemble, strong arm the softener out of the salt tank(very heavy) and clean the entire system. If you don't, you dramatically shorten it's life span. That never happens on a two-piece system. You get more softener, an important longer filtering bed and less maintenance with a two piece system, all for the same price. Some times you are limited on space so you have to do a one-piece softener. We do many mobile homes where manufacturers specify one piece softeners, therefore we offer two. (it's interesting to note that two piece softeners can often fit better than one piece in a tight spot).

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, more than 85 percent of the United States geography has hard water. While many consumers use a water softener so they can enjoy the benefits of soft water, there is some confusion about whether softened water is safe to drink.

Some consumers are concerned that drinking softened water will increase the level of sodium in their diet. Despite the myth, softening your water will not result in salty-tasting water. Sodium bicarbonate, which is different from sodium chloride (table salt), is formed through the water softening process. You can also use potassium chloride (non-salt) products in a Seahorse, rendering you water totally salt-free. The amount of sodium added to water from the water softening process depends on the hardness of the water supply. When very hard water (greater than 10 grains of hardness per gallon) is softened, only 10 to 30 mg of sodium is added to every 8 ounces of water. For comparison, an 8-ounce glass of low-fat milk contains about 120 mg of sodium, a 12-ounce can of diet soda contains from 30 to 80 mg, and an 8-ounce glass of orange juice contains about 30 mg.

The majority of the sodium in consumers' diets -- more than 90 percent -- comes from sources such as processed foods and table salt. The recommended daily allowance for sodium consumption is 2,400 mg. Drinking two quarts of softened water would only add approximately 200 mg of sodium to your diet. Individuals concerned about sodium in their diet should consult their physician about effective means of reducing overall sodium consumption.

An Easy Solution to Hard Water Problems

Hard water forms when naturally occurring minerals enter water sources. Over time these minerals are absorbed by groundwater. The two most common types of minerals found in hard water are calcium and magnesium compounds. These minerals' presence can make cleaning more difficult, cause skin rash, brittle, discolored hair and can reduce the lifespan of household appliances.

Luckily, there's a simple, safe solution to hard water. Installing a water softener is quick, easy and takes out natural hard minerals found in water, making it easier to get clothes clean, leaving skin less dry and irritated, and makes showering more pleasant while protecting the home.

During the water softening process, water softening salt charges thousands of tiny resin beads inside the water softener with positive ions. As hard water moves over the resin beads, the calcium and magnesium minerals are attracted to the beads and replaced with negative ions, creating soft water. Over time, the resin beads will become full of minerals and need to be recharged. This process is known as the water softener's regeneration cycle. The frequency of regeneration varies depending on the water usage of each home and the source water's hardness.

Soft Water Can Save Money

The term "hard water" was originally coined to refer to water that was difficult or hard to work with. Hard water requires much more soap, shampoo or detergent than soft water, so your soap products don't stretch nearly as far. The effects of hard water are felt most often in daily household activities such as cleaning. The minerals present in hard water inhibit soap's lathering and cleaning capabilities.

According to New Mexico State University's Water Heater-Energy Savings Study, the lifespan of appliances such as water heaters, washing machines and dishwashers can be reduced by as much as 30 percent when hard water is used in the home. Also, when hard water is heated, the minerals in the water can precipitate out and form scales in the bottom of the water heater. These scales may build up and result in increased water heating costs.

Another factor to consider is the high costs associated with repairing major appliances. How much would you be willing to pay to repair a 5-year-old washing machine, water heater, laundry washer, dish washer, refrigerator, pipes fixtures, etc. Due to the high cost of repairs, replacement is often the best option once hard water has wreaked havoc on an appliance. By using soft water you can add many, many more years to the longevity of most of your appliances -and save yourself the expense of replacing them much sooner than you expected.
